Chris n' Karen

Biography
Christopher

Growing up in Houston, Texas, Christopher started playing at age 14 when he received his first guitar from his grandmother and got a beat-up hand-me-down classical guitar from a brother. Influences in music started from sounds in the car from his fathers choice of music which ranged from classical to Brazilian and everything in-between. Starting out with formal lessons, then continuing with various lessons throughout the years, then moving to the fine art of playing by ear, Christopher learned many songs from popular American artists including Simon and Garfunkel, John Denver, Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash and Neil Young.
In his early twenties, he packed his guitar on camping trips and played for friends, family and new acquaintances on the road. Many of these memory-filled (or not so memory-filled) trips occured in Austin's own back yard along the Guadalupe River and Canyon Lake. Some of the best audiences were along the river with the sound of the water rushing by. With the hill countries alure he eventually found himself at Kerrville Folk festival where he started playing and partying just for fun.
After years past and moving to Austin, Christopher started writing songs. He visited Kerrville on numerous occasions attending songwriter workshops under the critiquing eyes and ears of hosts Terri Hendrix, Lloyd Maines and Eric Taylor. Christopher says, "They don't know it, but their feedback and critique helped me to refine my writing and build confidence in my ability".

More years past after moving to Colorado then Hawaii, Christopher finds himself back in Texas. Currently in Round Rock, he is performing with his wife Karen, who plays the drums and sings harmony and lead, around the Hill Country in small venues. He was previously in the bands "Simply Friends" and "Arrowhead Republic" and is currently with "Chris n' Karen", "Southern Tropics" and occasionally "Cowboy Nemo". With many songs under his belt, Christopher recorded and released his songs on his first CD, "Magic Window" now available on Spotify and Amazon Music.
